Tough Commute
Walked I to work this morning, and except for an inversion of sentence structure, which I hope is temporary, I have felt no ill effects. It was quite pleasant in fact.
I did this because I wished to go to work deliberately. I did not wish to find, when I came to retire, that I had never truly commuted.
Measured on the car's odometer last week, the door-to-door is 6.5 miles. I walk 20 minute miles, more or less, and sure enough, I left the house at 6AM and walked into the office at about 8:30, having stopped for a quick breakfast in Newton Center, the halfway point.
Crossed from dark into light. As I traveled northeast to southwest, the earth turned some too, which of course it does while I drive, but I don't notice it nearly as much.
